Description
"After Arusha, another war begins. The cockroaches will come back, how will we welcome them?" An anti-Tutsi political cartoon published in the Hutu Power magazine "Kangura." It depicts Paul Kagame, leader of the Rwandan Patriotic Front (FPR) leading his men while saying "We, the proud cockroaches of the FPR, are coming back!! We come to live by force with those whose lives we have destroyed!!" The rhetoric promoted by "Kangura" helped spur the Rwandan Genocide, which saw more than 800,000 civilians (primarily Tutsis) killed by Hutus between April and July 1994. It was Kagame who would would evenetually win the Rwandan Civil War and put an end to the genocide.
