Description
"Tutsi, Race of God!" an image of Grégoire Kayibanda, the first president of Rwanda following the overthrow of the Tutsi monarchy. There is a machete to his left next to a block of text that says “Which weapons are we going to use to beat the cockroaches for good??” This image was featured on the cover of the Hutu Power magazine "Kangura." The anti-Tutsi rhetoric promoted by "Kangura" helped spur the Rwandan Genocide, which saw more than 800,000 civilians (primarily Tutsis) killed by Hutus between April and July 1994.
