For Black History Month the New York State Archives and New York State Library Manuscripts and Special Collections presents, Opening the Airways: How Black Women Broke the Color Barrier in the Sky. This exhibit focuses on experiences of Dorothy Franklin, Patricia Banks, and Mary Tiller, women who fought discrimination in the hiring of Black flight attendants by major airlines. Opening the Airways will be showcased in the 11th floor lobby of the Cultural Education Center during the months of February and March.
