Thirteen Drivers' Licenses

Teaching the Holocaust and other Genocides

The discovery of the 13 Drivers’ Licenses in the town of Lichtenfels in 2017 revealed a poignant and haunting connection to the atrocities committed against Jewish residents during the Nazi regime. These driver’s licenses, which the Nazi authorities confiscated from Jewish citizens in 1938, shortly after the November Pogrom (Kristallnacht) and during the period of escalating persecution, became a tangible reminder of the individuals who the Nazis stripped of their rights, dignity and ultimately their lives.
