Description
Jewish family from Lichtenfels, Germany, Alfred Marx (1903-1989), Elle Bamberger Marx (1904-1993), and their daughter Inge Marx (1930-2023). As antisemitic sentiment rose in Nazi Germany, the Marx family had their drivers licenses confiscated, their business liquidated, and their home ransacked during Kristallnacht. In 1939 they fled to England and a year later moved to New York City.
