Description
This antisemitic article printed in Henry Ford's newspaper, "The Dearborn Independent" claims that American society is being poisoned by a conflict between traditional Anglo-Saxon values, and the so-called "Jewish Universal idea," which attempts to usurp them. The author argues that it is to the benefit of the Jewish people to give up this idea of Jewish dominance and resolve the so called Jewish Question by accepting their position not as a ruler but "as a grateful wanderer at last come home." Interestingly enough, this solution does not argue for the complete assimilation of the Jewish people but rather accepts that the Jewish people may remain religiously, ethnically, and culturally distinct, as long as they cease the supposed "infiltration of Orientalism into business, art, entertainment and the professions." This article would later be reprinted in Volume 4 of "The International Jew," a collection of eighty antisemitic articles from "The Dearborn Independent." This series was translated into German and became a major influence on Hitler and other Nazi leaders.
