Description
Broadside "To Adventurers," printed in Bethany, June 17, 1830, by Jason Torrey. Torrey is announcing the availability of land for sale in Honesdale and Bethany, Pennsylvania, at the western end of the Delaware and Hudson Canal. He writes of the "valuable country," "moral and religious social privileges," and the improved value of timber. He points out Honesdale's virtues: its proximity to the canal, its suitability as a depot for goods from New York, and its role as a market for farm products.
