Description
Chiune (Sempo) Sugihara in his office at the Japanese consulate in Bucharest. During his earlier appointment in Kaunas, Lithuania, Sugihara saved over 2,000 Jewish refugees from the Holocaust by issuing Japanese transit visas that allowed them to escape to East Asia.
