Description
Conference of the Big Three at Yalta makes final plans for the defeat of Germany. Here the "Big Three" leaders of the Allied Powers of World War II, British Prime Minister Winston S. Churchill, American President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Soviet Premier Josef Stalin, sit on the patio together. This conference, held in Crimea from February 4–11, 1945 saw the great powers negotiate the spheres of influence that would arise following the war. Though at the time viewed as a great example of international cooperation, after the war, many became critical of Roosevelt for "handing over" Eastern Europe and Northeast Asia to the Soviet Union.
