Dachau concentration camp after its liberation on April 29, 1945. Established in March 1933, Dachau was the longest operating camp established by the Nazi government. The number of individuals incarcerated in Dachau between 1933 and 1945 exceeded 200,000. Scholars believe that at least 40,000 died there.
