Dorothy Franklin, wearing a flight hostess uniform, posing near a Trans World Airlines (TWA) plane at LaGuardia Airport, 1957. Photograph was taken as part of an investigation by the New York State Commission Against Discrimination (SCAD). Franklin filed a complaint with SCAD after she applied for a flight position at TWA and was rejected. Franklin believed she had been rejected for a position due to her race.
