Description
The Law for the Prevention of Offspring with Hereditary Diseases [Gesetz zur Verhütung erbranken Nachwuchses] enacted by Nazi Germany on July 14, 1933. This mandated the forced sterilization of certain individuals with physical and mental disabilities and set the stage for later sterilization campaigns against Roma, “asocial elements,” and Black people. All of this was done in the name of maintaining the "racial hygiene" of the German nation.
