Description
A market in the Lodz ghetto in Poland. From February 1940 to August 1944 approximately 210,000 people were forced to live in this small, segregated portion of the city. After the liquidation of the ghetto in 1944, tens of thousands of Jews were deported to extermination camps such as Auschwitz-Birkenau and Chelmno. Photograph taken by Walter Genewein.
