Description
Martin [also known as Maurice or Morris] Zimmerman's Certificate of Naturalization. Zimmerman was born in Działoszyn, Poland on February 15, 1924 to a Jewish family. During the Second World War, he was sent first to Częstochowa Ghetto, and then to Buchenwald concentration camp. As the only survivor of his family (the rest having died at Treblinka extermination camp), he decided to head to Belgium after the war, where he would meet his wife Frieda Berkowitz. In 1950, the couple immigrated to the United States where they built a family. This document marks his final step in becoming an American citizen.
