Description
Rev. Martin Niemöller takes part in an ecumenical meeting in the Grote Kerk in The Hague. From left to right: Rev. MNW Smit (chairman of the Hague Ecumenical Council), Rev. Niemöller and Prof. P. Kaetze, minister of the German Evangelical Church in The Hague. Niemöller gained notoriety through his 1946 poem "First they came..." which discusses the dangers of staying silent in the face of fascism.
