This newspaper article published in the Madison County Journal on August 21, 1850 is in regard to a meeting of anti-slavery men to meet in Cazenovia, New York. Abolitionist Gerrit Smith is credited in the article with the call for these men to come together. The article calls for, "Those that have escaped from Slavery and those who mean to escape it, and those who think it right for men to escape from it, and all men who think Human Rights are the true capital of country."
