Description
A needlepoint sampler made of silk on canvas. Catharine Van Rensselaer created this sampler when she was seven years old to practice her needlepoint sewing. Catharine Van Rensselaer Bonney was the granddaughter of Philip and Maria Van Rensselaer. After she grew up, Catherine married Samuel Bonney. They became missionaries and traveled to China. Catherine started a school for girls in China. She also ran a girls school in North Carolina. She also wrote a book about her famous family.
