Description

Broadside describing the proposed order of procession to celebrate the orders to recall British troops from New York in August 1783, which was postponed until noon November 25, 1783. As the British were still evacuating, a dispatch was sent to George Washington who was camped at McGowan's Pass (now the northeast corner of Central Park) and Washington re-entered the city, along with the George Clinton, a general in the Continental Army, and governor of New York State from 1777-1795, and again from 1801-1804. Henry Knox served as a senior general in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War and was chief of artillery in most of Washington's campaigns.
