Description
Holocaust survivors Morris Zimmerman (second from right) and Frieda Berkowitz Zimmerman (center) at Treblinka extermination camp in Poland with their son, daughter-in-law, three grandsons, and two granddaughters-in-law. During the war, Morris was sent from his home of Działoszyn, first to Częstochowa Ghetto, and then to Buchenwald concentration camp. Similarly, Frieda was sent from her home of Kłobuck to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. Both moved from Poland to Belgium after the war, where they met and became a couple. In 1950, they immigrated to the United States, where they built a family. In 2005, the Zimmermans took a trip together to Poland and Germany in order to retrace their journey of liberation. This stop of their journey was of particular importance as Treblinka was where Morris's parents Hinda and Wołek [Wolf], as well as his sisters were killed.
