Poster claiming that the successful forty-six day strike by Local 1199 workers in seven New York City voluntary hospitals (Mt. Sinai, Brooklyn Jewish, Lenox Hill, Beth Israel, Beth David, Flower Fifth Avenue, and Bronx) won workers a $40 a week minimum wage, the 5-day, 40-hour week, time and a half for overtime and a guaranteed wage increase. If a majority of workers in other area hospitals would organize, the poster urged, they could be represented in negotiations with management scheduled for October 1959, and "be part of this great victory." At the bottom of the poster was a clip and mail coupon for workers who wanted to join Local 1199 and a translation of the text into Spanish.
