The Society for Promotion of Agriculture, Arts and Manufactures, incorporated in 1793 by Chapter 59 of the Laws of 1793, was the first agricultural society in New York State and the fifth in the country.
Their goal was to promote new and experimental scientific procedures to improve agriculture, horticulture, and household arts across the State. The Society evolved into the still active New York State Agricultural Society.
