The New York State Archives Student Research Awards is a statewide, interdisciplinary research program for students in grades 4-12. Participants are required to rely heavily on historical records for their research. As a historian, librarian, or archivist, you can provide teachers and students access and guidance to primary sources in your region. The Student Research Awards provides students with an opportunity to learn and develop the six social studies practices outlined in the New York State Social Studies Framework.
1) Gathering, Interpreting, and Using Evidence
2) Chronological Reasoning and Causation
3) Comparison and Contextualization
4) Geographic Reasoning
5) Economics and Economic Systems
6) Civic Participation
